Oral Lacerations

Cuts in the mouth are noteworthy because they bleed quite easily. A small amount of bleeding mixed with a lot of saliva always looks worse than it is. It is best to gently rinse your child's mouth with water, then spit it out, repeating several times if necessary. Oral lacerations heal quite well, and often do not need sutures. Even lacerations of the tongue will heal quickly and well.
